Jizo Statues in Snow
Jizo is a Buddhist Bodhisattva (transcendent being similar to a saint) popularly depicted in statues throughout Japan. He is believed to be a guardian of travelers and children.
These statues are found in front of Hodenji Temple, near Itoigawa City Hall.
